Bob, Cori and Timothy Hanus:
Q:  Where are they today? (December 19, 2013)
A:  Utopia, Texas

Dear Family and Friends,

Franklin Graham and Bob                   Sturgis Rally Outreach          Bob with Jeff Gordon’s Pit Crew

Dear Family and Friends,

God is so faithful to His Word!

After 19 years of evangelizing the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Rallies, the Sturgis Rally was one of the busiest yet (over 500,000 bikers).  God raised up more than 80 people to come out into the streets with us.  We led different teams of servants of the Most High God into the battlefield.  The King of Kings was high and lifted up.  Many people came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as we carried many of our crosses and signs.  We gave out cases and cases of Bibles and Gospel Tracts.  We gave altar calls to the crowds on Main Street during the rally.  These altar calls were some of the most Holy Spirit filled events ever witnessed.  Many of the servants that came to help us commented on how they have never experienced such an awesome life-changing ministry.  Truly God touched many of our workers as well as the souls reached on the streets.

Again, I was asked to open the rally in giving the benediction and prayer to all the law enforcement officers working the rally.  Being the Sturgis Rally Chaplain is such a joy and honor for me.  Each of these men and women in law enforcement are awesome.  Many of them are friends of mine that I keep in touch with throughout the year.  They give of their time to work one of the craziest and busiest events on the planet.  Many of these officers come from many states away to work the Sturgis Rally.

Of course, one of my most special times each year, is the opportunity that I am given to speak at the Wyoming Boys School.  These incarcerated youth are very precious in God’s sight.  Many of these youth have no family to go home to when they are released.  My heart goes out to each and every one of them.  God is so very faithful to allow me to speak into the lives of these youth.  Every year without fail, the presence of the Holy Spirit is so strong in that facility.  When I give the altar call a great majority of these youth surrender their lives to Jesus.  I am blessed with time to answer their questions afterwards as well.

God is so good!

Well, it is 2013.  In the last 20-years of full-time ministry, God has proven Himself faithful.  He has allowed us to evangelize all 50 states in the United States.  He has also been with us as we evangelized all across Canada and Mexico.  He has opened countless doors as we ministered the Gospel message many times over on television, radio, cable, newspapers, magazines, internet, public schools, colleges, jails, drug rehabs, detention centers, churches, etc…  Our street ministry has included many events totaling millions of people.  We have designed, printed and distributed over 3.3 million Gospel tracts.
We have given away tens of thousands of CDs and DVDs.  We have walked more than 22,000 miles with the cross.  Yes, almost enough miles to circumnavigate the globe.  Including walking the longest highway in the entire United States (US Highway 20) from Boston, MA to Newport, OR (3426 miles in length) every single step of the way with thousands of US citizens saved from Hell.  Now they are citizens of Heaven.  Can one family make a difference?  Yes!

This year, starts even greater exploits.  If God can use one family to reach millions of people with the Gospel, imagine using an entire school of youth.

On the morning of March 5, 1991 (almost 20 years ago), God woke me up at 3:30 in the morning.  I woke up out of a deep sleep with the presence of the Holy Spirit all over me and knew that I needed to open my Bible.  I opened up to 1 Timothy 4:11-16.

“These things command and teach.  Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.  Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.  Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.  Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.  Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine.  Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.”

This word came to me at a time when I was seeking God’s will and direction for my life.  I knew He had a call on my life to serve Him in a full-time ministry capacity.  Yet, I looked at my circumstances and was in a season of thinking that I was too young to serve God.  I was college age and had dropped out of college in my senior year at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  I had accumulated 102 ½ credits of the 126 credits needed for my undergraduate requirement for my B.B.A. in Marketing.  I knew that I needed to go back to college and finish my Business Degree.  God opened the doors tremendously.  I re-enrolled in the University (after being absent 9 semesters).  In December 1992, I had enough credits to graduate but chose to continue one more semester of classes to prepare for transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to acquire my M.B.A.  God had a different plan.  In April of 1993, after second and third interviews with 7 companies (3 of which are ‘Fortune 500’ companies), God asked me to walk away from a very lucrative career (in which I would have been making over $100,000 annually in my stock-options alone within 5 years) to pursue a life of full-time ministry.  By this time in my walk with Jesus, I knew the rewards of obedience.  Therefore I left everything I knew to “GO FORTH” not knowing where I was going.  I only knew that God was the one leading me.  In July of 1993, I found myself in the small Texas hill-country town of Utopia, Texas.  God had placed it in my heart to serve a faithful street evangelist who was in Utopia 6 months a year and in Miami 6 months a year.  He became my teacher and friend.  We served together approximately 10 months (most of that time in Miami) ministering to the homeless, drug addicts, prostitutes, gang members and anyone God put in our path in the streets.  We saw countless salvations, miracles, healings, deliverances, provision, etc… During this time God placed it into my heart to build a cross and carry it throughout North America.  By 1997, I had carried the cross in 49 states, Canada and Mexico also.  In 2008, I was blessed to finally get to Hawaii and carry the cross in state number 50.

My mother introduced me to my wife, Cori, a few years into the ministry.  Cori and I married in 1995 and our son, Timothy, was born in April of 1997.  Each winter, we would end up back in Utopia, Texas.  On February 16, 2010, we purchased our very first house which now serves as our ministry headquarters.

For 20 years, God has been revealing to me such “clarity of vision” for Crosswalk University.  Now is the appointed time for this awesome venture.  Let me share with you some of this vision.

Ephesians 4:11-16 says, “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

Crosswalk University is an affordable four-year, full-Gospel university established for the equipping of young men and women for the work of ministry.  At Crosswalk University, students will have an atmosphere to experience the presence and power of the Holy Spirit’s anointing in the daily teaching and the equipping of students for a lifetime of service.

We at Crosswalk University, along with our many covenant partners of well-established ministries throughout the globe, will take the time to:  Teach the students;  Impart into their lives the anointing of various gifts and ministries;  Train them in a vast array of “hands-on” ministries;  Qualify their abilities and call to the work of God;  Graduate our students as well-equipped servants of the Most High God;  Placement of qualified students in the areas of their desired ministry;  Send our graduates across the planet to fulfill the work they are called to do;  Provide spiritual, physical and financial assistance to our graduates in every way possible for their successful fulfillment of God’s call;  and Nurture our covenant relationships to our students and their families.

Crosswalk University is focused on developing each student in their individual calling.  Some of you are called to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors or teachers.  Some of you are called to be youth leaders, worship directors, rehab counselors, chaplains, campus ministry directors, food pantry workers, homeless shelter coordinators, nursing home ministers, missionaries, Christian television or radio personalities, media ministry personal, Gospel tract designers, printers, distributors, street preachers, etc…  Whatever God calls you to do, you can do.  We would love to take part in the training and admonition of the Lord in our students lives.

Students will have a sure foundation in understanding the many various aspects of so many exciting ministries.  They will get “hands-on” training in many of the following areas of ministry, including:

●   The Offices:  Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, Teacher

There will also be a lot of “on-site” ministries that our students will actively be involved with:

ACADEMICS

Our courses are designed to capture the hearts of our students.  The material will contain the abundant living Word of God.  Students will take classes that will equip them for the various ministries that they are called to fulfill.  Many well established Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers have also agreed to “Guest” teach our students.

This way we can have the very best of God’s anointed and established men and women of faith share, impart, and help establish our students.  Bob Hanus will himself teach many of our freshman and sophomore students’ classes.  The wisdom acquired from almost 20 years of full-time ministry will be a tremendous asset to our facility and these students.

As our students enter their Junior year, they will be presented with opportunities to receive apprenticeships to the various well-established ministries of Bob’s covenant partners.  Next to the students themselves, this is one of the greatest advantages of an education at Crosswalk University.

Some of the courses students will take include:

Power of the Holy Spirit; Gifts, Prayer, and Anointing)

Our covenant partners are located all over the globe.  We have a tremendous amount of opportunities to bring our students on short-term mission trips to some of the following places:

We are going to make tuition, housing, and travel affordable at Crosswalk University.

With our covenant partners all across the globe, many of our trips will be little more than airfare.

The experience of “hands-on” ministry to so many different people groups, locations, and ministries is a huge asset to an education at Crosswalk University.

By far, one of the greatest joys for the Hanus family has been all the relationships that have been developed over the years of full-time ministry.  Those relationship include thousand of people in the churches, on the mission field, in the schools, communities, organizations, etc…  These are the well established ministries that students of Crosswalk University will be able to experience for themselves.
We believe that God will call many of our students to these or similar ministries.  The education received inside and outside of the classroom is another valuable asset of Crosswalk University.

At Crosswalk University, we strongly encourage fellowship.  Building and nurturing relationships is a priority.  Students will have many, many opportunities to fellowship with each other, staff, guest professors and ministry leaders.  We are in this together.  Students will be in the classroom Monday through Thursday.  Friday will be Fellowship Day.  Students and staff will be doing things together.  We could be ministering, traveling, worshiping, eating, playing, resting, or just goofing off.  If there is one thing that Bob Hanus has learned in almost 20 years of ministry, it is the importance of fellowship.  We were created to be a part of each others lives.  God doesn’t have grandchildren.  We are all in this family together.  The relationships developed at Crosswalk University will be those that you will have for eternity.  Many of our students will serve the Lord together all their lives.

Crosswalk University is located in Utopia, Texas for a reason.  It is the most peaceful place in all of North America.  After serving the Lord in all 50 states and all across Canada and Mexico, we can make this claim.  Utopia, Texas is nestled in the beautiful South Texas Hill Country where we only have 3 seasons: Spring, Summer, and Fall (the weather is beautiful).  The Hill Country has an abundance of wildlife:  whitetail deer, axis deer, antelope, turkey, coyote, pigs, bobcats, and an occasional mountain lion (so we’ve been told).  Utopia is located in Uvalde County.  Our town is a “dry” precinct (no taverns).  Located only 75 miles west San Antonio, we have all the shopping and city stuff a person would need.  The population of Utopia is only a few hundred people.  However, we cannot say enough about how awesome our friends in the community are to us.

After ministering in churches all over the continent, we can tell you that we love our local fellowship at Living Waters Church.  Living Waters has a pastor who we love and respect dearly.  He and his family are such humble servants of the Lord Jesus Christ.  The Word taught is solid, the worship is anointed,
the fellowship is flourishing, and the events are awesome (including “Dinner on the Grounds” every 3rd Sunday of each month).  On Sundays, there may only be 150-200 people yet God is using Living Waters to make a difference in the lives of so many people across the globe.  You would be welcomed anytime.

At Crosswalk University, students will have opportunity to join Bob on additional outreaches during school breaks.  The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (in August), College Spring Break (in March), and other outreaches during semester breaks will be additional life changing experiences.

The Academic year will follow most university schedules.  We are looking at August 29th to welcome our students, with classes beginning September 2nd.  Classes will run until mid-December and resume mid-January.  Classes will then continue until early May, with a Spring Break in March.

We are looking at accepting early enrollment in May.  Regular enrollment will probably be in June.  We will be offering a substantial discount for all students who enroll early.

We are currently looking at various housing opportunities for our students.  We will give many options to keep housing costs at a minimum.

By April 15th, we should have a more concise packet of information to present to anyone desiring more information.  We also are in the process of designing and going online with our website:  www.crosswalkuniversity.com   Look for it sometime late February.  We will probably be sending another newsletter with the official packets that we will be sending to students sometime in April as well.  It will include a DVD and much more information.

Many of you receiving this newsletter are longtime followers of this ministry.  You are well aware of all the awesome adventures God has let us be a part of experiencing.  We have truly been blessed in leading thousands of people to Jesus.  We have been blessed with the opportunity to evangelize our nation and the people in it.  God has established our work and covenant relationships tremendously all across North America.  He is faithful.  We are now “stepping out of the boat” into the greatest opportunity and calling that God has ever trusted us with:  starting up a four-year university to train up the next generation.  We will equip and impart into them the gifts, wisdom, and skills necessary for a lifetime of ministry.  Everything that God has established in and through us He wants to deposit into your sons and daughters.  They are the future of the church.

There is a lot to be done this Spring in order to able to receive students this August.  We are anticipating many God-called youth to be enrolled into Crosswalk University.  It is a very great opportunity for you to be a big part of this awesome work.  Those of you who have followed us from the beginning know that for the first 15 years of ministry, we had never asked donations from anyone.  We took great “pride” in this fact.  Forgive us this wrong.  It was a prideful thing.  God set us straight when He revealed to us that we were not allowing anyone the opportunity to sow seed into the fertile soil of His work through us.  Acquiring our “ministry headquarters” was the first invitation we extended to anyone.

Crosswalk University is a vision that “simmered” many, many years.  It is all about God’s perfect timing.  Now is the time.  This is an awesome work of God that will mold many youth into well equipped and established servants of the Most High God.  Students of Crosswalk University will be instrumental in reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  You and your family can be instrumental in helping to start this work.  There is great expense in starting Crosswalk University.  Many of you understand the importance of “sowing seed” into the fertile soil of God’s projects.  Would you and your family take time today to pray about sowing finances into this work of God?  We do not want to stand before the Lord and say, “We didn’t give people an opportunity to sow into such an important work as Crosswalk University.”  Therefore, we have enclosed a self-addressed envelope for your “seed” to be sown into this work.  Also, do not hesitate to let us know if your family would be willing to become monthly financial covenant partners with us in this work.  Together we can and will make a difference in God’s Kingdom work here on this planet.  Join us.  Thank You!

May God richly bless you and your family for your faithfulness in joining us in reaching this generation with the everlasting Gospel.  We love you and hope to hear from you soon.

Love, your servants in Christ Jesus,

The Hanus Family
